Doctors of Chiropractic are highly educated and trained with a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education. The chiropractic profession maintains strong educational standards through the accreditation process administered by the Council on Chiropractic Education of Canada (CCE). CCE accredited Chiropractic Colleges require a minimum of four academic years of study comprising a minimum of 4,500 hours of instruction.

The curriculum of CCE accredited colleges concentrates on the sciences, differential diagnosis, chiropractic principles, X-ray interpretation, nutrition and laboratory studies.

Prior to entering a CCE accredited chiropractic college, the potential chiropractor must successfully complete a minimum of three full years of university prerequisites with high academic standing. Almost 80% of applicants to a CCE accredited institution have at least one university degree.

After successful completion of education requirements, the graduate can apply to become a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic. This requires passing a comprehensive knowledge-based exam, a national clinical competency exam, and a provincial ethics/jurisprudence exam. In many jurisdictions, including Saskatchewan, the practitioner must also complete specified continuing education requirements as a condition of continued licensure. This promotes the maintenance of high standards that ensures a high degree of public protection.

Chiropractic is a healing discipline firmly grounded in science. Chiropractors use various diagnostic methods, including x-rays, to discover the state of your health, paying particular attention to your spine and bone structure.

Doctors of Chiropractic are primary contact health care professionals. Chiropractors focus on the spine in relation to the total body and specialize in the understanding and treatment of its component bone structures, muscles, and nerves. No referral is necessary to consult a Chiropractor.

Chiropractors believe that correcting the cause of the problem provides significant long-term benefits over only treating the symptoms.

Using a number of unique and highly refined skills, the chiropractor checks the patient's spine and other bony articulations for any misalignments, fixations, or other abnormalities. If abnormalities are detected, the chiropractor will generally apply a gentle force in a corrective manner to the affected spinal area.

Because chiropractic treatments are primarily applied to the spinal region, many individuals incorrectly assume that chiropractors treat only back and neck ailments. While we do quickly and effectively eliminate back and neck pain, it's not the only goal. Chiropractic care involves spinal and extremity adjusting techniques, physical therapies, soft tissue therapies, dietary and nutritional counseling, exercise and fitness counseling, and many other safe and natural methods to improve health and prolong a vibrant and productive life. The objective is to restore and optimize human health.

You may be wondering... how can the same chiropractic treatment which effectively treats my back pain also optimize my health? The answer can be found by looking into the relationship between the spine and the nervous system.

Because of the intimate relationship between the spine and the nervous system, biomechanical and structural problems in the spinal column can irritate parts of the enclosed nervous system. This irritation can result from noxious inflammatory biochemicals released during tissue injury or may result from direct mechanical pressure.

Chiropractors help millions of maturing individuals regain control of their lives every year. Our treatments are designed to treat acute and chronic pain, increase flexibility, improve mobility and function, increase strength, enhance balance, and increase the overall quality of one's life. We can show you how to get the most out of your body so that you can get the most out of life!
